TOUR ITINERARY

DAY 1 SAT MAY 17: Independent arrivals in Vancouver, British Columbia and hotel check-in.

DAY 2 SUN MAY 18: We board the "Rocky Mountaineer" passenger train in Vancouver for one of the most spectacular train trips in the world. We have booked our group into first class Goldleaf Dome Car . As you relax in your dome seat, coffee and orange juice will be served. Once we depart from Vancouver you will be served breakfast in the lower level dining room with white linen, gleaming tableware and fresh flowers. This is the ultimate dining car experience. Quite simply, this is as good as it gets: comfort, luxury and spectacular scenery. The vistas around every curve will keep you in total awe. We travel through the rugged Fraser River Canyon. In areas, this canyon is so narrow that the river madly foams and roars just below the railroad. At Hell's Gate, the river is rushing between two rock formations and a bottleneck as the rail line goes into a number of tunnels high above the river on a rock ledge. Then we enter the Thompson River Canyon, gateway to the famous Cariboo Country. By the end of the day the train runs along the shores of scenic Kamloops Lake for many miles before entering Kamloops. Here we transfer to the hotel for the night.

DAY 3 MON MAY 19: In the morning we again board the same train and continue our eastward trek towards the awesome Canadian Rockies. As the train heads into several different ranges of the Canadian Rockies we note that there is no other train in North America that runs through so many spectacular national parks in one day. First we enter Revelstoke National Park, then into Glacier National Park. Looking up in the dome car you can see the peaks of the Rockies towering thousands of feet above the train. After passing through Golden again the train starts the rugged and steep climb into another range of the Canadian Rockies and into Yoho National Park where the grade is so steep the tracks must make two complete 360 degree spiral loops in tunnels under the mountain in order to gain altitude to crest the summit at Yoho. Soon we run through Lake Louise National Park and finally into Banff National Park before saying good-by to the train and checking into the hotel in colorful Banff, Alberta. After dinner take a stroll down the main street of Banff with all of the wonderful little shops offering unique merchandise from around the world.

DAY 4 TUE MAY 20: In the morning we board our charter motorcoach and take a grand tour of the area including the Valley of Ten Peaks and the turquoise waters of Lake Moraine. We then enter back into British Columbia to visit Yoho National Park which will include Emerald Lake, Natural Bridge and of course an overview of the famous Spiral Tunnels in Kicking Horse Pass. We then return to Alberta and end the day by visiting spectacular Lake Louise, considered the jewel of the Canadian Rockies. Hotel check-in at Lake Louise Village. In the evening we have a very nice dinner planned for you at the Depot Restaurant which was once the Canadian Pacific train station for Lake Louise.

DAY 5 WED MAY 21: Today our charter motorcoach will take us northbound up the breathtaking "Icefield Parkway" You will see rushing waterfalls, crystal clear rivers, emerald lakes, alpine meadows and many snowcapped peaks. As we make our way north we travel from Banff National Park to Jasper National Park. We will make plenty of photo stops today for your enjoyment. Once we arrive in the Village of Jasper it is hotel check-in then you can have the rest of the afternoon to explore the village.

DAY 6 THU MAY 22: Morning hours to relax and explore the Jasper Village. Via Rail's "Canadian" passenger train will be arriving from the east early afternoon. Our group is booked in the first class sleeper in luxurious Silver & Blue . Once onboard you can settle in to your bedrooms and then take a stroll to the dome car and watch the spectacular scenery. Soon the train will enter British Columbia and climb towards the summit in Mt. Robson National Park. Enjoy the scenery from several dome cars that will be on the train. Once the sun goes down you can stroll down to the dinning car and have a wonderful dinner in the grand style expected of this great train. Later in the evening go back up to the dome and gaze at the bright stars in the sky with your evening drink before turning in.

DAY 7 FRI MAY 23: You will wake up with the train deep in the Fraser River Canyon. Enjoy a cup of fresh coffee and enjoy the wonderful scenery as we get closer to Vancouver. All too soon it will be time to detrain at Vancouver. Vancouver, there is nothing quite like it in the Pacific Northwest. We start our tour of this city at Gastown, the historic heart of the city. This is home to prominent galleries representing a wide selection of Canadian Native art and sculpture. Nowhere else will you find all of these collectibles, antiques and Canadian designer fashions, plus the funky eateries. We have arranged for a old restored street car to take us around the city on our own private charter. This historic street car will take you to the famous Granville Island market. For lunch we have the group booked at the famous "Lookout Tower" at the "Top of Vancouver" restaurant which is revolving and 553 feet above the city. After lunch we will show you the scenic harbor and Stanley Park plus a ride on Vancouver's Skytrain from the inner harbor to the downtown area, where our hotel is located. Hotel check-in and evening on your own in the city.

DAY 8 SAT MAY 24: Morning hours to relax or explore Vancouver. In the afternoon we board the Seabus for the short cruise across the bay to North Vancouver and a visit to Lonsdale Quay. Then we take you up the Grouse Mountain Skyride to the top of the mountain at 3,700 overlooking the city.
