TRAINS UNLIMITED, TOURS AND OUR GOALS

Trains Unlimited, Tours has been operating unique and spectacular railroad train adventures around the world for the railfan and tourist since 1985. We have a staff of professional travel agents, railroaders, and railfans that plan and operate our tours. Trains Unlimited, Tours is owned and operated by people who love trains, railroads and rail transportation. We maintain a very good working relationship with railroad management all over the world. We strongly believe that "It takes a railroader to know how railroads think and operate". Indeed, we understand railroad management because most of our staff are professional railroaders, both in the operating and management field, some still active and some now retired. Our Tours Manager has 27 years working for several railroads in a number of positions.
We have now operated over 1100 charter trains and private rail cars in 47 countries. Trains Unlimited, Tours was formed 24 years ago to promote train travel and to help railroad historical groups and museums preserve the rich history, rare documents and preceless equipment of the railroad heritage around the world. Over the years we have worked very closely with many railroad groups and museums to help raise funds for preservation, including the donation of money, free trips, drawings and other support. We are proud to have donated tens of thousands of dollars and hundreds of man hours to non-profit railroad clubs, groups and museums. We will continue to do so for many year to come.

Comment from David Baule, Excutive Producer
November 17, 2007
Dear Chris
This is just a brief note to fill you in a bit on the Patagonia steam trip. First, we all had a great time. The trip was up to the usual excellence we have experienced on your programs. We were able to get a good cross section of railfans and tourist which was very helful for our segment. We met some really great people along the way. Dale & Miryam and John did a great job in dealing with the unexpected and were well prepared, knowledgeable and helpful to all concerned.
One of these days, Chris, I am hopeful that Barb and I can do one of these as just plain old tourists, and I won't have to worry about a crew, video material, or anything other than enjoying the moment. Thanks for your help. It was quite a wonderful experience for all of us.

NEWS RELEASE
SEPTEMBER 4, 2006
AMTRAK CLOSE TO A MELTDOWN
IN THE WEST FOR LACK OF CREWS
AMTRAK CANCELS MOST ALL CHARTER TRAINS
IN THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST SCHEDULED TO RUN
SEPTEMBER THRU DECEMBER 2006 AND ON INTO 2007!
Amtrak has decided to cancel all of our private car and charter train excursions scheduled to run in Oregon during October for lack of crews. This crew
shortage problem is far worse than anyone was lead to believe. Amtrak's problems are so serious that they have ordered that all charter trains in 2006 be
cancelled except for a few special runs such as the 4449 steam excursion to Bend, Oregon . Also they ordered that any charter trains in 2007 be cancelled
in the Pacific Northwest until further notice, with only a few exceptions This will effect any chance to reschedule the Portland & Western tour to 2007. But
this order does not effect our Modoc Rail Adventure, as everything south of Klamath Falls comes under Northern California management and crew terminals.
We have set new dates for our MODOC RAIL ADVENTURE FOR OCTOBER 5-8, 2007 (COLUMBUS DAY WEEKEND)
Amtrak has been given the green light to start hiring new employees in the west in late 2006 for on the job training that will be ready to help ease the extreme
crew shortages by mid 2007. Employees report that it is so bad that Amtrak has been trying to call back employees on vacation and in some cases has
even had to cancel regular scheduled trains for lack of crews. Passenger trains in the Pacific Northwest are running so late that many crews are going dead
on their 12 hours of service and many times there are no relief crews to go out and bring in the trains. Some crews tell us they have never seen it so bad.
At this point in time all we can do is look forward to better days for Amtrak in 2007 once the new employees are trained and start working the trains.
