RAILFAN/TOURIST TOUR JUNE 25-26, 2007 Pre Garden Scale Convention tour.

The Nevada Northern Railroad is the last Nevada Bonanza mining line left and perhaps the best preserved shortline in the old wild west! This railroad has been preserved in its original state, from the workshops, stations, yards, rolling stock and motive power in East Ely, Nevada. Our two day event will include the operation of No. 40, a 4-6-0 Baldwin and No. 93, a 2-8-0 Alco on both passenger and mixed train consists with photo run-bys each day. This event is being operated for the Garden Scale Convention folks that is being held in Las Vegas June 27-30, 2007. Charter motorcoach transportation will be provided from Las Vegas to East Ely and return and also this tour is open to everyone, not just conventioneers.
JUNE 25: (L) Charter motorcoaches depart from the Hotel Riveria in Las Vegas at 7:00am for the journey north to East Ely. Upon arrival in East Ely transfer to our waiting mixed train pulled by No. 93 for an afternoon run on the Keystone Line running up to the old copper mine. Plenty of photo run-bys will be operated in scenic locations both directions. Upon arrival back in East Ely you will have time to explore the historic old workshops and running shed as No. 93 to put to bed and No. 40 is being fired up. After our workshop visits we will transfer you to nearby lodging.
JUNE 26: (CB-L) We again board another charter train at the historic East Ely depot with a passenger train consist pulled by No. 40 for a run north on the mainline and then up the hiline to the site of the old KCC copper mill at McGill. Again, photo run-bys will be operated for the cameras. Upon arrival back in East Ely we board our charter motorcoaches for the return journey south to Las Vegas. We plan to arrive back at the Hotel Riveria in Las Vegas around 6:00pm.
